Why Schools Matter: Intersecting Education, Planning & Development
The local school is often a key factor when selecting a place to live. How do we maximize our engagement with our schools to benefit community revitalization? We will discuss how Community Development Corporations and schools can partner for mutual benefit. Transformation of Cincinnati Public Schools into Community Learning Centers began in 2001 with the mission to improve conditions for learning and be a catalyst for neighborhood revitalization. Our speakers will talk about the role of Community Learning Centers in Cincinnati, as well as the interconnection of education, planning and development currently underway in our Cincinnati neighborhoods.
Don’t miss the opportunity to tour Oyler Community Learning Center and join in on a robust RoundTable discussion! A limited number of spots (25) will be available to tour Oyler Community Learning Center with Darlene Kamine, Executive Director of the Community Learning Center Institute. See the first vision center inside a school in the country; experience the vibrant atmosphere of the volunteers, teachers, and students, and learn what makes Cincinnati Community Learning Centers the national model for cities like NYC, Miami, Philadelphia and LA!
Please note that we’ll be meeting at The Sanctuary where the CLC is located.
